How to Handle “Spring Forward” with Your Kids

How to handle "spring forward" with your kids

SPRING FORWARD🌸🌱

Daylight savings time is easier in the spring for many families! Parents of early wakers especially enjoy the fact that their little one who would always get up at 5-6, is now up at 6-7 which is a much more reasonable time to start the day! It’s bedtime that can be a little harder, especially for older kids.

I do feel like you don’t have to do as much prep work as you might in the autumn.

The quickest way to stay on track is just to immediately keep your typical routine.

If your child normally wakes up at 7, wake them up at 7. If they normally eat lunch at 12, give them lunch at 12. If they normally go to bed at 8, put them to bed at 8.

Yes they may be cranky and tired for a day or two but it’s like taking the band aid off super fast 😅

After all, you still have to be at work at the same time and they still have to be at school at the same time.

If you have a super sensitive kiddo that doesn’t handle change well, you can start a few days beforehand and shift the bedtime by 15 minutes each night.

For most families though they just have one extra tired day and then get back on track!
