Easiest Naptime Routine for All Ages

Has your baby or toddler ever:

  • started crying when they realize you’re carrying them toward the crib?

  • taken a great nap one day and a crummy one the next?

  • gone on a nap strike or appeared to have FOMO?

If you answered yes to any of those, your child needs a nap routine!

What is a Nap Routine?

It’s basically a stripped down, shorter version of the bedtime routine, so it’s totally predictable for them each time they take a nap! Each day at naptime your child goes through the exact same routine whether it’s with you, or grandma, or nanny, etc. The steps become a normal part of your child’s day, making naps predictable. Your child always knows at which point they will go down into the crib!

Ideal Nap Routine for Babies & Toddlers

1. Sleep sack on- yes, even for older babies and toddlers!

2. Read one story in the rocking chair. Get in that sweet cuddle time while your little one gets drowsy 🥱

3. Auditory cue- a sound that your baby learns to instantly recognize as the step that comes before going down in the crib. I recommend having a special night night song that you sing every time 🥰

4. Baby goes into crib with lights off and sound machine on!

Children LOVE routines and sticking to them helps reduce whining and tantrums, as well as produces better sleep results.
